Over 100 infants have been abducted from
healthcare facilities in the past 15 years. Protecting
Infants from abduction while still in the maternity/birthing
ward has been the focus study and hospital and nursing
review agencies and is being treated more seriously
by hospitals large and small alike.
The HUGS system which monitors a babies whereabouts
and insures its presence “on the ward” is one of the
Security Systems sold and installed by Bennett Communications.
Another less frequent threat to maternity departments
is the issue of unintentionally “swapped” babies.
The Hugs system has recently been expanded
to include an amazing new feature – called KISSES.
Kisses
is a component of the Hugs Infant Protection System
that provides automatic mother/infant matching notification.
With Kisses, each mother is given a small tag (the
Kisses tag) that is bonded with her infant’s Hugs
tag at birth. From that point forward, the tags remain
bonded throughout their stay in the hospital. Nurses
are then alerted with an audible indicator that immediately
confirms the match or mismatch of infant and mother
every time the two are brought together. |
